The family, who lost a 4 year old girl named Madusia, first took refuge in the Anapandi Hindu temple after their house was flattened in the tsunami. They were then moved to the Hindu college and placed in tents donated by aid organizations. Six months later, they were still living on the land where their tents were set up, but they also had a partition of their own in a tin hut with a thatched roof. With earned and borrowed money, plus a little given to them for the loss of Madusia, the family bought a small piece of land, where they plan to start anew.
