Sri Lanka After the Tsunami
Add to Lightbox DownloadA woman, whose family lost nine members in the tsunami, is seen in their destroyed home in the village of Dutch Bar, Batticaloa, Sri Lanka, Jan. 15, 2005. The walls still show the height of the water level when the tsunami struck their town. Residents of the small Christian village spent more than six weeks in a makeshift refugee camp at the local convent recovering from the devastating tsunami that hit the eastern and southern borders of Sri Lanka. They were then moved into another temporary living camp, while awaiting the building of new homes.
